The release of Alumio version 3.99.0-RC1 introduces a smoother, faster, and more intuitive experience across the platform. This update focuses on enhancing usability and performance, from smarter variable tooltips and improved form responsiveness to faster API responses and more efficient configuration handling. We’ve also resolved a queue alert issue to make job monitoring more reliable and accurate.
Here’s what’s new and improved with Alumio version 3.99.0-RC1:
Enhanced variable tooltips and drag-and-drop functionality
We’ve improved variable tooltips to display current values for better visibility. You can now drag and drop both placeholders and environment variables into fields with automatic highlighting for easier placement. Additionally, unused placeholders can now be removed directly, providing more flexibility when editing.
Improved Name and Description field handling
We’ve updated the “Name” and “Description” fields to allow saving the name independently without affecting other changes. Updates are now logged in the history table for better traceability, and conflicts are clearly displayed if description edits overlap with other updates.
Faster API responses for smoother navigation
We’ve improved the speed of API responses to prevent long loading and response times in the Dashboard. This update ensures that your workspace loads faster and runs more efficiently.
Optimized configuration performance
We’ve enhanced configuration performance by reducing the number of displayed elements per page. This optimization speeds up navigation and interaction, especially when working with large configurations.
More responsive form inputs
Form input performance has been improved, making typing in large configuration input fields much more responsive. You’ll now notice smoother, faster feedback when editing complex configurations.
Reliable queue alerts with clearer job status handling
We’ve fixed a bug that caused false positive queue alerts when jobs failed due to another process already running. These jobs are now marked as skipped instead of failed, ensuring alerts are only triggered for genuine job failures.
Release dates
- Important: these dates apply only to environments configured with the ‘Latest’ update cycle.
- Release candidate 3.99.0-RC1: will be installed in week 44 (sandbox environments)
- Stable release 3.99.0: will be installed in week 46 (production environments)
Update cycles
Alumio offers two update cycles to choose from. By default, your environment is set to the “Latest” update cycle.
Latest
With the “Latest” update cycle, your environment will always receive the most recent version of Alumio. Updates are first deployed to sandbox environments. Two weeks later, the same version is released to production environments. Every 2 weeks a new version of Alumio is released.
Long-Term Support (LTS)
The LTS version is released quarterly and is based on a thoroughly tested Alumio release that is a few versions behind the latest version, providing extra stability and security. However, selecting this option also means you won’t have access to any newly released Alumio features for a period of three months.
Sandbox environments (such as UAT) receive the LTS version one month before the start of the new quarter (i.e. June), specifically on the first Monday of that month.
The LTS version is deployed to production environments on the first Monday of each new quarter (i.e. July). This provides a full month for testing prior to deploying the new LTS version to production.
You can switch your update cycle through the Alumio interface
- Log in to your Alumio environment.
- Navigate to System > Settings.
- Modify the Update Cycle setting and click Apply to save your changes.
