Introduction

This article describes all existing login methods available in Alumio. Since we have started using variable login methods, this topic will guide you trough the different ways of authenticating.

Alumio offers multiple ways to log in to the environment:

  1. Google account
  2. Microsoft Social account (Business accounts are not supported)
  3. Azure AD, SAML, Okta, ADFS, OpenID, LDAP, Google Workspace (Enterprise licenses only)
  4. Registering your own account

As you may know, for extra security Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required to log in to the Alumio environment. If you lose access to your authenticator app, please contact support@alumio.com to reset your MFA.

Google account login

Using a Google account is the first and oldest login method used for Alumio.
To log in using a Google account, you only need to select the “Continue with Google” option.

After clicking on the option, Google suggests choosing an account with which the login should be performed. Once you make a choice, Google redirects to the ‘Secure Your Account’ page and asks about checking your identity.
If you have not logged in before, Auth0 suggests scanning the QR code via your personal authenticator app (E.g. “Authenticator” on Android) which you can always set up from the App Store/Google Play.
Then you need to enter a one-time code displayed from your authenticator app.
Once you click on the “Continue” button, you’ll be redirected to the Dashboard in Alumio.

If the QR code has been already read via the authenticator app, you navigate straight to the Verify Your Identity page, where you need to enter a one-time code from your authenticator app.

All that is left is to click on the “Continue” button and the system will redirect you to the Dashboard. You can always consent to remember your device for 30 days.
That enables you to stay logged in the system during the next 30 days.

Microsoft Social account login

Login using a Microsoft social account enables you to verify using your Microsoft account and that’s it! To log in with a Microsoft social account, you only need to select the “Continue with Microsoft Account” option.

After clicking on the option, you will be suggested to type Microsoft email/phone/Skype account and click on “Next”.

Then you will need to enter a password for the corresponding Microsoft email/phone/Skype account.
Afterwards, all you have to do is to click on the “Sign in” button.

In addition, Microsoft suggests staying logged in the system once you put a checkmark in the appropriate field.

The last step is to make a choice about whether you would like Auth0 to have permission to read your profile.

Once you make the choice, the system navigates you directly to the Dashboard.

Azure AD, SAML, Okta, ADFS, OpenID, LDAP, Google Workspace login

Enterprises can easily connect to Alumio using Azure AD, SAML, Okta, ADFS, OpenID, LDAP and Google Workspace.
The first thing you need to do is to request a login via support@alumio.com.
Our Customer Support team will respond to you as soon as possible and provide a guide on how to configure the selected login type on your end.
You’ll need to send information regarding the selected type of your login (it could be a domain, Client ID, Client secret etc).
If you do not exactly know what list of information is required, feel free to ask the Customer Support team. Once the Customer Support team gets all the necessities, they’ll set up the authentication using the given information and inform you.

Register your account login

Registering your account allows creating an account in Alumio with the special credentials you would like to have. If you have never had an Alumio account, it is easy to sign up by clicking on the “Sign up” link below the “Continue” button.
The form automatically changes its view and suggests typing your email address and password to register the Alumio account.

Once you confirm creating an account, you should be redirected to the Login page and see a notification message informing you to confirm your email address.

Alongside, you will get an email notification that allows verifying your email. Once this is done, you can simply get back to the Login page and enter your credentials.

After clicking on the “Continue” button, the system redirects you to the ‘Secure Your Account’ page and asks you to scan the QR code via your personal authenticator app. Then you need to enter a one-time code displayed from your authenticator app.
Once you click on the “Continue” button, you’ll get redirected to the Dashboard in Alumio.

If the QR code has been already read via the authenticator app, you navigate straight to the Verify Your Identity page, where you need to enter a one-time code that shows up in the authenticator app.

All that is left is to click on the “Continue” button and the system will redirect you to the Dashboard. You can always consent to remember your device for 30 days.
That enables you to stay logged in the system during the next 30 days.

Reset password

If when using Google authorization or Register your account login methods you forgot your password, you can always click on the “Forgot password” option on the Login page. Once you do that, you will be redirected to the “Reset password” page to enter your email.

Once you have entered your email and clicked on the “Continue” button, you will navigate to the “Check your email” page with a confirmation that the email has been sent to you with further instructions on how to reset the password.
