Introduction
External systems often undergo scheduled maintenance, during which they become temporarily unavailable. When Alumio continues attempting to connect during these periods, it can lead to failed processes and misleading error alerts. To help avoid this, users can configure specific timeframes where schedulers are automatically paused. This enables better control over integration behaviour, reduces noise in monitoring, and ensures that planned downtime doesn’t trigger unnecessary alerts or failed tasks through Maintenance windows.
To use the Maintenance windows functionality, go to Schedulers → The Maintenance windows tab.
Follow the guide below to create a downtime for your scheduler.
Guide
Step 1: Create a new Maintenance window by navigating to Schedulers → The Maintenance windows tab → Create maintenance window.
Step 2: Once a maintenance window is configured, it is automatically set to “Enabled”. While the window is active, no items in the queue will be processed - they will remain “Scheduled”. This ensures that no data is sent to external systems that may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance.
You can choose to configure a one-time downtime or set up a recurring schedule, such as weekly or monthly, depending on your needs. Even during an active maintenance window, it is still possible to queue new items either through a Scheduler or by manually clicking the “Run” button on an Incoming configuration or a Route. However, these items will remain pending and will not be processed until the maintenance window ends.
If there are any items already being processed at the moment a maintenance window starts, those tasks will be completed. Only newly scheduled tasks will wait until the window has ended before resuming processing.
Step 3: To help with tracking and auditing, you can also view the history of maintenance windows by clicking the “Maintenance window history” button. This provides an overview of past windows, including their timing and status, making it easier to review when processing was paused and resumed.
Step 4: You can also export or delete a maintenance window by selecting the checkbox next to the desired record. Additionally, the “Actions” menu allows you to duplicate an existing maintenance window and adjust its settings, making it easy to create similar schedules without starting from scratch.
