What are Spaces?
Alumio partners with a Spaces license can efficiently manage multiple end customers within a single Alumio environment. Instead of requiring a separate Alumio environment for each end customer, you receive a single environment where you can create and manage Spaces.
All configurations you create are linked to the Space you are currently working in. This ensures a clear separation between different customers or projects under your management.
Additionally, Spaces allows you to grant specific individuals access to only a particular Space instead of the entire Alumio environment. For example, this could be a developer (Editor) or an end customer (Viewer).
How do I switch between Spaces?
Switching between Spaces is very simple. Click on the name of your currently selected Space in the left-hand menu. You will then see an overview of all available Spaces. The Spaces displayed depend on your access rights. System Administrators always have access to all Spaces.
Additional Menu Items
With a Spaces license, you gain access to several new menu items, which can be found under the cogwheel icon in the upper right corner.
Below is a brief description of these new items:
Spaces
On this page, you can view, create, edit, and delete your existing Spaces. Additionally, you can adjust the number of Data Engines assigned to each Space.
System Administrators
On this page, System Administrators can be created. These users have full system access and can also grant other users access to specific Spaces.
Audit Trail
This page displays the overall Audit Trail of Alumio, spanning all Spaces.
Environment Details
Previously named “Information,” this page provides details about the environment, license information, and system statistics.
Granting Users Access to a Space
There are two ways to grant a user access to a Space:
- Within the specific Space: Navigate to “Access Control > Users.” Any user added here will, by default, have access only to the currently selected Space.
- Via System Administrators: System Administrators can also manage user access through “Admin > Spaces.” When editing a Space, the “Users” tab allows for user management on a per-Space basis.
Webhook and Proxy URLs
Each Space has a unique path for configured webhooks and proxies. Keep this in mind when setting them up. You can view the path when editing a webhook or proxy. Additionally, under “Access Control > Information,” you can find all specific URLs related to the Space you are currently working in. This includes URLs such as the OAuth redirect URL or the Base Webhook URL.
How many Spaces and Data Engines do I receive?
The number of Spaces and associated Data Engines you receive depends on your Alumio Spaces license. By default, this includes 32 Spaces and 64 Data Engines. Each Space can be assigned a maximum of 2 Data Engines.
Why do I see “Audit Trail” twice in the menu?
The Audit Trail is now available both at the Space level and for the overall Alumio environment. Under “Access Control > Audit Trail,” you can view the Audit Trail for the currently selected Space.
Can I use a VPN connection with a Spaces license?
No, this is not possible. VPN connections are only available for a dedicated Alumio environment/server configured for a single end customer.
